Science of the Self Mini-Workshop: Body Representation, Misperception and Eating Disorders

The aim of this one-day workshop is to bring together psychologists, cognitive scientists, philosophers and clinical researchers who work on body representation and perception, with a focus on understanding body size and shape distortions related to eating disorders. The workshop will consist of presentations of theoretical perspectives and empirical findings on a range of phenomena related to body representation and perception in both healthy participants and eating disorder patients. In addition to talks, the workshop will provide opportunities for participants to discuss future directions for research into these areas.

Dinner and drink after the workshop will be at The Oaks, Neutral Bay ( If you’d like to join us for dinner, let Stephen know via email. The best way to get to the Oaks from Macquarie is the SL1 bus to Chatswood (leaves from MQ shopping centre/train station) and then bus 144 Chatswood to Manly or 257 Chatswood to Balmoral.


The Macquarie University train station will be unavailable due to renovations. However, Additional high-speed bus services from multiple train stations have been planned. There are also a number of regular bus routes that go via Macquarie University.
